Senior Scientist / Technical Supervisor (Bacteriology and Virology)
Anna received a BSc. Microbiology degree from the University of Toronto with a specialization in virology and genetics.
After graduating, Anna worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton for several years as a Research Assistant in the Regional Virology and Chlamydiology Laboratory. While there, she was able to gain experience in both the research and diagnostic laboratories. During her time there, Anna worked with a large array of viruses including Influenza and HIV as well as the obligate bacterial parasite Chlamydia trachomatis.
After leaving St. Joseph’s, Anna worked at Langford Laboratories, Guelph, Ontario, in Quality Control – Viral until Langford’s closure in 1995. While there, she was responsible for cell culture and the establishment of a Quality Control testing bank. She was also part of a Total Quality Management team to reduce repeat test occurrences.
Anna has been with Gallant almost from its beginnings. She started as a Laboratory Technician and now, in her role as Senior Scientist/Technical Supervisor, oversees production of the bacterins and vaccines manufactured by Gallant. She has developed and adapted techniques used in the testing labs for isolation of bacteria and virus. In addition to supervising the production laboratories, she reports results to clients and provides customer support.
